Process of Preparing a Financial Forecast
The preparation of a financial forecast (financial projection) is a process based on close cooperation with the client, in order to ultimately produce a document with high credibility and a significant probability of realization. During the forecasting process, access to a range of financial data and various company documents is required. Examples of such documents include:
- Annual budget,
- Quantitative reporting of historical sales broken down by product assortment,
- Credit/loan/leasing agreements with repayment schedules,
- General ledger trial balances with detailed cost account entries (group 4 or group 5 accounts),
- General ledger trial balances with detailed revenue account entries (group 7 accounts),
- Long-term cooperation agreements,
- Annual depreciation plans,
- Investment expenditure plans, including physical and financial schedules for the investment process,
- Sales plans,
- Salary information (e.g., gross-gross format),
- Information on planned selling prices broken down by product assortment,
- Grant agreements with payment schedules,
- Dividend policy / information on profit distribution method.
The above list is illustrative and is individually adjusted each time based on the specifics of the particular enterprise — for example, not every company is a party to a leasing contract or has a grant agreement.
